Yesterday I was in Victoria Park. It opened in 1894. This park was in honour of Princess
Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland, the eldest child of Queen
Victoria of the United Kingdom and Prince Albert.
I really like all this wildness in the middle of a big city.
The other Victoria, which gave a name to another green public space in Berlin, was Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia, the daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, and Great-Grand daughter of Queen Victoria. This time wasn't that a park but a square. Viktoria-Luise-Platz.
The Princess with her husband and five children in the Sanssouci Park. |
This little square was laid out in 1900, so my interest is quite big. I hope to find there a bit of an influence of secession.
