This time we leave the European mainland to see English marvelous gardens of the late 18th century.
The Movie The Duchess (2008) is based on the historical biography by A. Foreman and show the story of Georgiana Spencer who, at the age of 17 in 1774, becomes Duchess of Devonshire.
The Duchess was filmed on location at Kedleston Hall, Clandon Park in Surrey and Holkham in Norfolk to represent former homes that no longer exist, such as the main residence of the Duke and Duchess, the Devonshire House. Kedleston was also illustrated as a rented villa in Bath.
The Exteriors were shot at the Somerset House, Chatsworth House and Park, Kendleston Hall, Basildon Park, Ostreley Park and the Royal Crescent in Bath.
They all draw a quite realistic picture of the English gardens around that time.
